  • The initial password is the lastname in lowercase.  It is recommended that your first step should be to use the webmail interface to set up your account with a more useful password.
  • The webmail interface is www.drumbo-opportunity.ca/webmail

Outlook Setup

Use Tools/email accounts/add (menu item in outlook) to add an account

Secure Password Authentication (SPA) should be off.

In Outlook, you will also need to select "More Settings", and look at the following:

On the Outgoing Server tab, select “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”, and set to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

Your Server Port Numbers should also be examined. The incoming port shouldn’t need a change, but your outgoing port should be 587. In Outlook, this is on the “Advanced” tab, in “More Settings”.

Some side notes on email set up:

Some users who are using ADSL High Speed Access (such as Bell/Telus High Speed ADSL) may need to use the SMTP outgoing server from their Internet Service Provider (ISP), as their service is set up to use their servers for all outbound emails. Please consult with your ISP if you are still having issues with outgoing email after following these detailed instructions.  If you set the SMPT correctly, this is not an issue with Sympatico.
